North Slope Employment Reaches 20 Year HighStudy shows more than half of new hires are non-residentsA new report released this week says employment on the North Slope has reached a 20 year high. The report was commissioned by the Senate Finance Committee last year during the debate over Governor Parnells oil tax proposal. It studied trends and work activity on the North Slope in 2010 and found that more than half of new hires on the slope aren't residents of Alaska. The report says the spike in employment numbers was brought about by new development activity and large investments for maintenance at Prudhoe Bay. For the full report click here.
