ANCHORAGE - Rape and sexual assault in the native community was the topic of a recent New York Times article.

Public Safety Commissioner Joseph Masters had a response.

In a letter, released Tuesday, Masters spoke about the need to unite as a state to “break the culture of silence,” and “choose respect” rallies held in 120 communities around the state.

But he said there’s still work to be done to protect Alaskans and assure victims that they will be heard.

"If victims are going to get help, or crimes are going to get prevented, or if investigations need to occur, then there needs to be somebody in the community that the public can turn to immediately.”

As part of governor Sean Parnell's "choose respect" campaign, Masters said his department has committed to adding 15 village public safety officers every year for ten years.

this guy is a joke - he has "selected justice" meaning he only has those arrested that do not threaten his position...some cases that might put a ripple effect that grows to a wave shows this state has a clan of " wanna be politicians " that get what they want off the backs of the innocents and those " vulnerable adults " tell Sean hello...
