A group of Alaska National Guardsmen is in Indiana getting ready to deploy to Afghanistan. But first the soldiers got a special delivery from Senator Lisa Murkowski – Coho salmon from Alaska.

“The last time our Army Guard unit out of Alaska deployed, there were some concerns about whether or not the protective gear that our men had received was the best,” Murkowski said. “I was assured that in fact this time around they have everything that they need. In fact, they were bragging about the camouflage and how better it is.”

The Guardsmen are headed for a year-long deployment in Afghanistan.
