With outgoing Interior Secretary Ken Salazar’s reconsideration of the King Cove Road project, U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) is backing off her threat to hold up the nomination of Sally Jewell. Jewell is President Barack Obama’s choice to replace Salazar. The REI executive was officially endorsed Thursday by the Senate Energy Committee where Murkowski is a ranking member. Murkowski said Jewell has agreed to visit King Cove if she is confirmed as Interior Secretary.
