ANCHORAGE - Two former police chiefs - one from Los Angeles - could take the stand when former officer and convicted serial rapist Anthony Rollins next appears in court. The municipality has retained Lou Reiter, a former deputy chief of Los Angeles Police Department, as an expert witness, according to court documents. Reiter is with Indianapolis-based Legal and Liability Risk Management Institute. The city paid $9,500 to LLRMI “to assist [the municipality] in litigation,” said municipal attorney Dennis Wheeler in an email response. “The final amount paid under the contract will change, depending on the amount of work [the municipality] assigns to the firm.” Anchorage attorney Christine Schleuss is representing some of the women Rollins sexually assaulted in civil lawsuits. Schleuss is taking depositions from six Anchorage police officers including Detective Sergeant Kenneth McCoy, who headed up the criminal investigation into Rollins, special victims unit detective and former internal affairs investigator John Vandervalk and Lieutenant Garry Gilliam, who heads up APD’s community action policing team, according to court documents, which show that Sergeants Roy LeBlanc and Thomas Oels and retired Sergeant “R. Glen” were also called for depositions. Meanwhile, Rollins has yet to be sentenced for committing serial rape on the job. The sentencing date has been pushed back more than a half-dozen times. For now, it's scheduled for April 13. The state has asked former APD chief and current U.S. Marshal Rob Heun to testify during sentencing “to describe how Rollins’ crime impacted the police department,” according to court documents. Prosecutors want Rollins to be sentenced to 203 years. The defense, however, says he should only have to serve 40, and cites three dozen letters Rollins’ supporters have written highlighting his “dedication to church, community service and charitable work.” |

So dedication to church and charitable work makes him less of a slimeball? I really feel for his family and for the victims but how did he get three dozen support letters? True and Holy Vine church no doubt.
