ANCHORAGE - There are new developments in the Anthony Rollins civil lawsuits against the Municipality of Anchorage and the Anchorage Police Department (APD).

According to court documents, the city has hired a private law firm – Clapp, Peterson, Tiemessen, Thorsness and Johnson – to help defend its self. Multiple women made claims that APD and the municipality failed to protect them by allowing the former officer to roam free.

The private law firm will add to a long list of attorneys the municipality has already hired.

Rollins was convicted last year of serial rape while on the job and will be sentenced next Friday for the criminal case.

Rollins, the city and APD have been named in 11 civil lawsuits.

Let the uniions pay for these law suits or at the very least, the lawyers. They are the ones that make it impossible to fire bad employees.

Hopefully the "public" won't be paying for these attorney's. It already appalling that the public pays for their cars to drive home and the like. Cops already get by with enough "benefit's" paying for attorney's when they break the law is and should not be one of them.
