Missing UAA Student Found Alive, HypothermicAfter going missing for more than two days, 28-year-old student and collegiate athlete Marko Cheseto Lemtukei has been found alive and in an extremely hypothermic state.
It’s not unusual for Glenn Graham to see some strange behavior while working the night shift at the University Lake Springhill Suites Hotel, but on Wednesday, one of the guests he was checking in had a few concerns.
"He was asking about the security of the parking lot because there was someone a little suspicious stumbling around, walking around the parking lot," Graham said. While he didn’t think much of it at first, he soon recognized the man stumbling toward the lobby doors just after 3 a.m. It was Marko Cheseto Lemtukei, the 28-year-old UAA student and cross-country runner who had disappeared into a snowstorm. "The only thing he could say to me was just the numbers 911,” Graham said. Cheseto suffered from hypothermia, and Graham said he had brought him into the hotel lobby to warm up by the fire until paramedics arrived. "There was snow frozen to his jeans,” Graham said. “The paramedics couldn't even take his shoes off because they were frozen to his feet." Now, he’s undergoing treatment at Providence Medical Center, and university administration said he’s in good condition and recovering well. But the frostbite remains the only clue as to where he spent the past few days. "We don't know anything between 7:15 Sunday night when he was last sighted and when he walked into the lobby,” said Steve Cobb, the university’s athletic director. For now, Cobb said they’re just happy Cheseto is safe. "Thrilled is not a big enough word,” Cobb said. “We're thrilled ‘x-squared’ that he's found and getting the help he needs." Where he went remains a mystery. |

Cat5, not only does that not matter at this point, but until you know the circumstances surrounding the situation, you should keep your trap shut. Also, wait until you get to college to find that out, or to say such bold and blaintantly off-color things.

I run the woods around UAA/APU in the darkness. I have been doing so for years. I frequent the APU bell tower at night. I stop by the tent platforms near the APU gym. I cut through the underground tunnel at UAA housing. I cut through the woods where they will be building the new gym. I lay in the middle of the grassy field at the dog park and stare at the stars. I visit the island when the ice freezes. I hate that hotel on the dog park. I run up the stairs at the spinal clinic. I circle the trails around APU. I like to stop on the lighted path and kick the trees to shower myself in snow. I come across moose often. Their dark forms against the silhouette of trees is easy to spot. I am very familiar with those woods all around there. I have spent more time in those woods in the darkness than in the light. It is not possible to get lost there, even in the dark. Trails are all over. Marco did not want to be found. J - the night runner.

@beks018 You're right maybe if i had gone to college I would have learned to be as blind as you. I'm just a dumb construction worker who makes 60k a year, has only 1 year away from an electrical engineering degree, has 0 debt, and thinks that when someone is walking during the winter they should dress for the weather. @jknowsali76 Do new college dictionaries define 'mean' and 'honest' the same way?

You don't know his back ground. Is he an exchange student? From another country, some where there is alot of desert and no snow? Does he understand the elements and how cold snow, ice and freezing temperatures can change quickly in Alaska? How can you KNOW he didn't want to be found? Thats really dumb thinking. His culture may be so different than what we understand he may be just a foolish, innocent individual that made a mistake. Thank GOD he is alive and doing well. GOd bless him.

Omg people listen to yourselves! Amazing how quickly one persons trauma ends up being a literal news catfight on message boards. The poor man got lost. Anyone have a thing called compassion anymore? Apparently you ALL are perfect. Im glad he was found finally, and is recovering. Very disgusting, were not thoughtless idiots, turn your ears on and shut the mouth!
