Kensington Mine Worker Killed In Accident

An accident at Kensington Mine killed a worker early Wednesday morning.

Joe Tagaban, 30, was working more than 1,200 feet underground when the accident occured shortly before 7 a.m.

The gold mine is operated by Couer D'Alene Mine Corporation, and a representative for Couer Alaska said Tabagan had worked at the mine for more than a year.

The Mine Safety and Health Administration has been notified of the incident, and mine officials said they're still investigating the cause of the accident.
