Memorial Service Planned for Coast Guard Shooting Victims

Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Air Station Kodiak

ALASKA – A memorial service held by the Coast Guard Base Kodiak will take place Wednesday at 1 p.m. for shooting victims Petty Officer 1st Class James Hopkins and Richard Belisle.

The service will take place in Hanger Three of Air Station Kodiak.

“The outpouring of community support honors the memory of our lost shipmates and helps the families cope with their unspeakable loss,” said Rear Admiral Thomas Ostebo in a press release.

According to FBI spokesperson Eric Gonzales, the shootings are a double homicide and currently being investigated by several law enforcement agencies.

No arrests have been made.

We are parents of an FS2 in FL, my only child, 22 yrs old, and all of us Coast Guard parents in our military families support group in the East Bay area send our deepest condolences to the families and friends and fellow Coast Guardians on this unimaginable and unspeakably tragic loss that has fallen upon them. We are praying for them all very deeply and give your our neverending respect, gratitude and honor. May God bless you all and especially those families on their loss. God please help justic be done unhindered.
