Mechele Linehan appeared at the Nesbett Courthouse in Anchorage Tuesday as her retrial for murder is finalized.
Linehan has been out on bail since shortly after her 2007 conviction for the 1996 murder of Kent Leppink was overturned last February. Today the judge set her new trial for April 2, 2012 and attorneys for both sides agreed to have their motions in by mid-November. Linehan is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing Wednesday. |

A lot of here say evidence, carlins dead, his son will not be in this trail, sounds like the prosacuter has personal issues about loosing this case, far less evidence now, we can see her found not guilty after this trail.

I wasn't on the jury so I don't know what happened. However, strikes me as odd and really bad judgment to allow the prosecution to present testimony from "The Last Seduction." You can probably find a movie for pretty much any scenario, and if you can't it doesn't mean it couldn't or didn't happen.

With only a little circumstantial evidence withstanding it is hard to believe that this case is even going to retrial! Mechele Linehan was slandered and convicted in the media and the Prosecution put on a dramatic fantastical display playing up her former career and presenting movie scenarios as evidence!! Tara1 I think you need to use more than your own assumptions to convict someone and actually try evaluating evidence.

Casey Anthony had far more circumstantial evidence and her own statements against her but not convicted. This woman has no evidence against her except a prejudice because she was a stripper and is beautiful. I can't believe this stupid jury system gambles on people's lives.

Colin is downright stupid for standing behind this lying woman. I just finished a paperback book on this tawdry story. Colin goes to Iraq and she cheats on him with his Army doctor friend and also her past lover from her Alaska days, Scott Hilke, even taking their little girl on one of her hookups with him in Minneapolis! Unload her Colin. She will be rightfully convicted again.

convicted because she was a stripper and it was obvious that the cold case detective was jealous of her because of her looks and was on a mission to convict her just to bolster her career. not one man testified that she ask for kent to be killed yet the prosecution uses that theory and that is all it is. but of course she was a teenage stripper so she must have done it. what a crock of .... i hope this new jury has the brains to find her not guilty.

She isn't likable. Most women can get past the stripper part (dancing to pay for college/make ends meat), it was her infidelity and lack of remorse that caused her issues with the jury. She played three guys and acted as though she was too young to know better. She never apologized for hurting those men instead she calls one gay and then states that if you go to a strip club expect it to be role playing 24/7... even outside the club. I don't know if she did it but her inability to show remorse for anything makes her look like a sociopath. For the retrial keep her off the stand, because she will sink her own ship.

In today's world most can care less if she was a stripper or not. To use that as a reason she is being tried for murder is ridiculous. She appears to be a sociopath with no conscience what so ever. What kind of person has 3 fiance's at one time? What kind of innocent person takes out a life insurance policy on someone? Someone with a need for cash. That's who. She plays men with her little girl sexuality. She even tries to play the judge with her little girl voice, tears and batting of her eyes. I think she is a scary woman who can get what ever she wants by playing innocent, sexy little child who needs saving.Ken wasn't her only victim. John Carlin Sr was one as well.She knows how to play men and is good at it. What is so disgusting is what do men really see in her? She is absolutely guilty. It's time for her to know that many on the outside of this can see right through the charade of innocence; Too many facts point to her guilt. I feel sorry for all who fall "under her spell". I believe in karma. And it will be swinging back her way.

Mechele may have been naive and played the role with these "older" men who knew better, but she clearly got caught up in a mess with John Carlin, who was the real killer. I don't think she intended to kill anyone nor did she "mastermind" anything. John is the real killer. He's the mastermind. Just because she was a stripper and played 3 men at the same time, does not mean anything. Also I seriously think that Kent had some mental problems. Just because someone writes notes to their parents "framing someone", does not make it the true, there are two sides to the story. Who knows, he could have been coo coo in the head and they did not know? And sometimes parents do not want to accept that. I'm sorry, but it's the true. I'm not entirely saying that Mechele is innocent, but I don't think she is this "mastermind" that everyone is making her out to be just because she was an ex-stripper with 3 fiance's. John Carlin did it. Plain and simple.

If this was a man, he'd be in jail. I could care less she was a stripper, friend of mine bartended in a strip club and I knew a lot of these girls. One of the girls was engaged to be married in a few months and she was still letting one of her customers take her out without her fiance knowing. Now does these mean shes a murderer, no, but is she capable, yes. Now take what evidence is in this case, the insurance policy, the letter etc. it sure piles against her. She plays the part of the innocent victim in this trial very well. Like Carlin said, she can be whoever she needs to be to suit her needs. She has no remorse for anything she did to these men, all she wants is to get back to her family, she's a sociapath. Look up the Dalia Dipoppolito case, look at how manipulative she was? Like a friend said, you cant turn a Ho into a housewife, I dont know how true this statement is, but women can be just as lethal as a man and even worse Like i said, if this was a man, he'd be i jail..

Statement of facts are what is needed to present to the trial. Defamation of Charachter is a card that is played legally to gain favor with the jury and that is not always won. The mind of a human and the heart of man is unstable and those feelings are to be set aside as facts are to determine the outcome. Whether or not we like or dislike her is not the case here, the case should be based on facts. It is amazing how stupid human ingnorance can be in legal issues to make it out to be a popularity contest when it is not...sheesh..smarten up people..

I just watched a story about this one with Mechele being interviewed. I plan on looking for the book. I can not say for sure in my opinion that she is guilty just from the show, but honestly she looks like it on TV. I have nothing against exotic dances, I understand it can be hard to make good money. Not my place to judge BUT she looks like a awful person to me. I find it amusing most of the people on here defending her are men! LOL! Wake up guys!

The woman is a liar and had a motive and even thought to make plans to escape after the crime had been committed. I wish common sense was a part of law, rather she pulled the trigger or not it is clear she was involved in the killing. A murderer is free and a victim's family is suffering the greatest injustice.

I thought doctors were somewhat intelligent. lol Her email alone (aside from NUMEROUS other factors) should be enough to convict. This lady has used men to do all her dirty work her whole life! The fact that she was a stripper is not the issue. She is a cold blooded user! No need to retrial. There was a psychiatrist who testified in the first trial that Mechele was not a sociopath or a psychopath. Her critics keep saying that she is one or the other to declare Mechele guilty without evidence.

All Mechele Linehan is guilty of is accepting gifts from Kent Lippink and avoiding him when she took trips to see her real boyfriend, Scott Hilke. The suspicions used against her are from an alternate reality. The Hope Note and the so-called Seychelles email are part of her avoiding Kent, and Kent in his letter admitted that it was just spite for her not marrying him.

I read Carlin was killed in jail. Carlin was just the trigger guy. The manipulative, insurance buying, gun washing, email affairing, man playing, leg spreading, doctor pleasing woman is the mastermind killer. It's amazing what defense a doctor's money can buy! I think she totally had something to do with Kent's death but I think the prosecutor is going to have trouble with proof. He is the one that's needs to have the burden of proof. A jury can't ( or shouldn't) convict on feelings but facts. I would hope that she would be convicted but I just don't think that without John Carlin, Ken's letter, and John's son that they will have enough. Would be an interesting trial to attend. I wish I could.

some people on here keep saying that she convicted because of her past as a stripper. That's not the case. She got convicted because she manipulated these man. She's not pulling the trigger, but she sure pulled the string. THIS WOMAN IS GUILTY! Justice would not be served if she goes free. This woman is good at manipulating people, especially man. If you listen to the audio of her police interview, you can hear Mechele making up alibi's for herself. She tells police he disappears for days; he collects peoples social security numbers, and he's sneaky..all after saying he's her fiancee! Colin is just another man being manipulated by her. GUILTY!!

No evidence, but many judge her guilty because of her past. That doesn't mean she is responsible for murder. She shouldn't have been convicted in the first place. Unbelievable that a movie was brought up by the prosecution. That alone should have been enough for a mistrial.
