Around 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Anchorage police say a man with a bloody gunshot wound walked inside a Gambell Street liquor store for help.

An employee at Spirits of Alaska alerted police dispatch that an injured man, later identified as Curtis Mannings, was bleeding badly due to a gunshot wound to his left calf.

Mannings told police he had been picked up by a man known to him only as “Q” in Fairview near 12th Avenue and Hyder Street.

Police have identified “Q” as 21-year-old Quincy Hernandez. According to the victim, Hernandez apparently wanted to discuss a debt and proceeded to pull out a pistol. Mannings followed Hernandez as he exited the black sedan, but then started to run down the alley north of 1139 Gambell Street. Mannings said Hernandez then fired a shot, striking him in the leg.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment and has since been released.

Hernandez’ sedan was found at a nearby apartment nearby and seized as evidence.

Police have issued a warrant for Hernandez’s arrest on a charge of first-degree assault but have not yet located his whereabouts.

Hernandez is described as an African-American male, 5’11”, weighing in at 150 pounds with brown eyes and black hair pulled back into a ponytail.
