According to Anchorage police, a resident of Karluk Manor was found dead last night in his room.

It’s the second death at the 46-bed housing program for chronically alcoholic homeless, which opened in early December.

Lieutenant Dave Parker said medics responded to the facility just after 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, and found 46-year-old Daniel Worthman deceased.

Program Manager Melinda Freemon said they were awaiting autopsy results to find out if alcohol was a factor.

"This was a person who lived on the street for many, many years," Freemon said. "They were very frail."
