Anchorage police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found near a Fairview hotel.

Police say an employee of the Black Angus Inn discovered the man’s body around 7 a.m. Saturday morning, lying next to trash bins behind the hotel near 15th Avenue and Fairbanks Street.

Officers say the man, who was not carrying identification, appeared to be in his late 40s and was found not breathing. They also say it didn’t appear the man was a guest at the hotel, and it was unknown if drugs or alcohol were related to his death.

A medical examiner is expected to conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death, according to police.
