ANCHORAGE - Tuesday night a man was arrested for fighting with police officers after witnesses reported seeing a man driving through Mountain View at speeds around 60 miles an hour, running stop signs and purposefully trying to hit children with his car. Just before 9 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to a residence where a family member had called to report her nephew causing a disturbance in the home. According to police, when officers arrived, the suspect appeared intoxicated and was bouncing off a hallway's walls. The suspect refused field sobriety tests, and police say during their contact with him he pretended he was going to pass out and had difficulty holding his head up. Officers asked him to stand up, and he started walking away. The officers grabbed him and he resisted, at which point he was taken to the ground. Police say during the struggle he grabbed one of the officer's duty weapons and tried to pull it from its holster. The man then rolled on his back and kicked another officer in the chest multiple times, knocking him backward. The officers eventually restrained the man and he stopped fighting. But after being handcuffed, he began to struggle again, and APD says he was put in full restraints. His breathing then became labored and police called medics. He was then admitted to a local hospital. A warrant was issued for 33-year-old Anchorage resident Isaac Shepard for two counts of third-degree assault and one charge of resisting arrest. He'll be served the warrant once the hospital releases him, and his bail is set at $10,000. APD says more charges may come after blood test results come back. |

Police will try to influence the presumption of guilt by adding unrelated information that will make their actions seem appropriate and the defendant appear guilty thus justifying the arrest. there is no stated evidence indicating the driver is the same person the police arrested. Did eye witnesses or the family members ID this man as the driver?

Uh, what does the first paragraph have to do with the story? Do police suspect it is the same man? If so, say so. Otherwise, I expected to read about a crazy driver, not someone causing a disturbance at a residence.
