Lori Phillips Sentenced for DUIsStill not sentenced for 2009 DUI killingIn downtown Anchorage, the 58-year-old woman who’s been convicted of killing a young father while driving drunk back in November of 2009 was back in court early Monday. Lori Phillips was originally scheduled to stand trial this week for two previous DUI cases – one from March of 2009 – six months before she killed Louis Clement near Potter Marsh, and the other from November of 2005. According to a municipal prosecutor, Phillips was out on probation for those cases when she drove drunk in November of 2009 and killed Clement. Phillips pled guilty to five charges Monday morning, and was sentenced to 878 days, about two and a half years. She has not been sentenced yet on the November 2009 case.

This is a sad story, here is a person that shouldn't be walking around on the streets. Jail is the only place for her. If she is let loose, then the state should be charged for any more people hurt by this lady.

Lock her up and throw away the key. Isn't 3 dui's considered a felony? Jail is the only way to keep her off the roads. Life plus 99 years.

Its these looser judges who let people like this out, time to take action america, most judges arent accountable, they are about as worthless as the offender.

An innocent man's life is only worth 2 1/2 years, this is a joke! I wonder how many more drunk drivers are on the roads after the slap on the wrist sentences?? Shame on you Alaska Court System. Our public safety is now a sham!!

I am a friend of the mother of the deceased, This is awful, two and a half years and who knows how little time will be added in sentencing, they should throw her under the jail, and she was under supervision at the time, the state should be held at least partially responsible for what happened, she should have been in jail at the time, people like her never learn so jail is the best place for her for the safety of the citizens of Alaska.

chose your leaders carefuly otherwise you are as guilty as the one that swung the ax, the gun, the car. if your are not part of the solution ect. how tired of this will we have to be before the lion awakens fully. portect your rights so that they will potect you. how are your tax dollars being spent? is that the answer? then be proactive, how?????

SHAME SHAME on the judge. Phillips has not learned from the first dui, when I was young I stole my dads first ever new car,(this was 40 yrs ago) and did $2000 damage to the car I learned not to drive and drink atleast not drive took 11 years to learn not to drink . It is so sad that the young kids dad is only worth 2 1/2 years . By not teaching Phillips to pay for her misdeeds you are giving her permission to continue again and again, oh my bad she did do it again and again . All for a hair appt. What about the family with out a Dad or signifgant other/husband ?

I wonder what young miss Phillips feels now that she is sober ... I would be horrified to learn I had caused the death of another unintentionally..... not that killing is wrong... just the unintentional part sucks for the family that lost their father... the courts bear a fiscal responsibility to the family of the loved one.. franky would be nice to see those who made the decision to let this fellow back on the streets... do prison time with him... if they held to account this would not have happened

the sad part of this story is this person would still be alive and getting ready for Christmas with his children. The justice system has failed and seems that as long as you can pay a lawyer you can get away with a slap on the wrist

The 878 days are for previous DUI convictions. She has not been sentenced for the Nov 2009 incident when the fatality occurred. Read the story a little closer before calling the judge a - and I quote this exactly as spelled - "looser"
