Law Enforcement Agencies Get Drug PayoutOver $2 million for agencies that busted "Ranes and Shrine" drug ringANCHORAGE - You could call it a payoff for the people who fight crime in our community, and Tuesday, it came in the form of some pretty big checks. U.S. Attorney Karen Loeffler handed over ceremonial checks worth over $2 million to several law enforcement agencies that were involved in prosecuting the “Ranes and Shine” drug ring. The marijuana ring was busted several years ago and resulted in a murder conviction; prosecutions sent a total of 15 people to federal prison. Over the years, millions of dollars in property that belonged to the drug ring have been located and liquidated. Tuesday’s payoff marks the last chapter in the investigation, with the size of the check reflecting the hours each agency put into it. Alaska State Troopers received more than a million dollars. The funds are distributed through a federal program that allows law enforcement agencies to recoup some of the costs spent on investigations. |

There is no pride in this case... They busted a guy, whose operation, if legal would have paid out this money in taxes... The real criminals are the lawyers and other pharmaceutical reps who pawn off dangerous drugs. Give us back our healthcare!

APD fails again. It costs a ton of money to keep everyone locked up in these overcrowded jails. Lots of these people are non violent people and its people like me that have to pay for them.
