ALASKA - Kodiak residents gathered to help the FBI look for evidence from an April 12 double murder.

The Coast Guard put out a call for help in emails and on Facebook Wednesday morning.

According to a reporter from the Kodiak Daily Mirror, about 120 people searched both sides of the roadway leading from the communications station where James Hopkins and Richard Belisle were found shot to death.

While nothing significant was reported to have been found, volunteer searchers were given specific things for which to look.

"They were out there just looking for pieces of clothing, pieces of a gun, any plastic bags, fresh dig marks, just anything out of place really,” said Mirror reporter Nicole Klauss.

The FBI said the area looked over was so big the search required more resources and that was why volunteers were used.
