ANCHORAGE - Taquka, a two-year-old orphaned Kodiak brown bear, is at his new home at the Orsa Bear Park in Sweden. Formerly housed at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, the cub is now at the only wildlife facility outside of Alaska to house a Kodiak bear.

The facility mimics Kodiak habitat, and the Orsa Bear Park has plans to move two Swedish brown bear cubs there so Taquka has peers to play with. Click one of the thumbnails at left to see a slideshow of Taquka at his new home.

Good choice of new home habitat for Taquka at the Orsa Bear Park in Sweden! The Swedish philosophy for wild animal management is very respectful and caring so expect this will be a successful move for all involved, animals as well as people who care about wildlife preservation:)
