Jennie-O Recalls Turkey Burger Product

The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation confirmed Monday that the product had been delivered to Alaska.

Jennie-O Turkey brand turkey products is recalling potentially tainted boxes of "All Natural Turkey Burgers with seasonings Lean White Meat."   

Jennie-O Turkey is recalling the product as it may be contaminated with Salmonella.  While there have been no reported illnesses associated with the possibly tainted meat, The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation confirmed Monday that the product had been delivered to Alaska.

Product specs:

  • Four-pound box
  • 12, 1/3-pound individually-wrapped burgers
  • Use-by date of "DEC 23 2011"
  • Identifying lot code of "32710" through "32780" (ink-jetted on the side panel of each box, just below the opening tear strip)
  • Establishment number "P-7760" (located within the USDA mark of inspection on the front of each box)
  • Products packaged Nov. 23, 2010

Even though I've had these burgers for years I don't think I'll be buying them anymore. With all the media about genetic engineering and how people are getting sick we no longer know who to trust. Some people might say that each food recall is just the first warning of a bigger problem.
