Israel Keyes Arrested for Access Device FraudWhat is Access Device Fraud?ANCHORAGE - While the Anchorage Police Department says Israel Keyes is a main suspect in Samantha Koenig's abduction, so far he only faces one federal charge – access device fraud. “Basically, account number, PIN, anything that allows you to access an account to either gain money or something of value or transfer funds,” said U.S. Attorney Karen Loeffler. But the law has a limit - access device fraud only applies if someone takes at least $1,000. It's the same charge the U.S. Attorney's Office levied against Joshua Wade three years before he was charged with first-degree murder in the disappearance of Mindy Schloss. APD won't confirm or deny whether Israel Keyes used Samantha Koenig's bank card before he was arrested in East Texas in connection with her kidnapping Tuesday. They call Keyes' arrest a step in the right direction. He could face up to fifteen years in prison for the fraud charge alone. |

I agree with Tex..."Sadly the dates your daughter minded his dogs makes him even more suspicious in my eyes" Samanatha is missing Feb. 1st & he has your daughter watch the dogs starting Feb 2nd? HHhhmm And, how many times when someone is found to be a killer or serial killer did the neighbors/family say they never thought he would do such a thing! He was such a good person/good neighbor. Keyes sure does look suspicious & he did bail out of town 1st did he leave info. on his business line letting his customers/potential customers know he was leaving town & when he would be returning? No. Did this "innocent man" use a stolen debit/credit card to help fund his bail out? He's a "person of interest" in this case for a reason. I certainly pray Samantha is found safe & sound & those involved be brought to justice & be given the harshest penalty of the law!

"s", I'm glad you commented. It reminds the public that no one yet knows if this man is the abductor. We don't want the police to stop looking, thinking they found him, and then have it turn out that he just found credit cards in the snow or something. I'm a bit confused though. Your first sentence says he left for Texas on the 2nd: "...they were out of town for 2 weeks starting Feb. 2nd." Then you say from the 2nd, _up until_ he went to Texas: "My family knows the timeline of Mr. Keyes from Feb. 2nd up until he went to Texas." So, just a few hours then, or something? You know where he was until he left? On the 2nd, or some other time? Thanks for your comment.

S.He was arrested for apparently using Samantha's or (in connection with a card (s) that were related to this case) debit or credit card. Get your facts straight, this isn't a good person.

I'm gonna have to agree with Grandma. To those who think all info should be released to the public, you're not thinking clearly. Private information is kept for a reason and could mean life or death for young Samantha. These people who think they are entitled to all the information thinking 'they can help if they only knew' are simply people who want the gossip to have something to talk about. If it were your daughter, you'd keep things private also.

You are wrong Grandma. This person is entitled to say what she/he wants when she/he likes. that is what freedom of speech is all about. She has spoken to investigators, she was not asked to keep anything she knew quiet. Why are you people up there even a little content with the work your police department is doing? How can you accept that? Why are you not jumping on these boards and asking questions that reporters seem to be forgetting or not mentioning that they have asked. Why all gthe secrecy? The more people know the better! Good on you 's' for speaking for Keyes. Sadly the dates your daughter minded his dogs makes him even more suspicious in my eyes, but I want Samantha to go home and I don't really care who gets run over while getting her there. If he is innocent time will tell.

Grandma, you are right. I appreciate your advice, and I will take it.

If your daughter dog sat for him, then you know a lot. If you are speaking with the police, you should not be posting stuff in public that is part of the investigation. That is for the police to release. Don't you reliaze that you should be keeping your info for police? If this guy is innocent or guilty, it will come out in the investigation. I am sure the police did not arrest him, nor release his name if they had no evidence. However, what that evidence is, only the police know. So I would advise, that you not spread more information that is just going to get more rumors going. Wait for the facts.

I would like to just say that my 20 year old daughter has babysat for Mr. Keyes, and that she watched their dogs while they were out of town for 2 weeks starting Feb. 2nd. The little girl that everyone keeps talking about is his daughter, and she is 10. I pray daily for the Koenig family and for Samantha's safe return, but everybody seems to be hanging a guilty sign around Mr. Keyes neck when he hasn't even gone to trial yet. Their is a lot of speculation going on. My family knows the timeline of Mr. Keyes from Feb. 2nd up until he went to Texas for a family wedding. So quit saying he fled the state. Their you go. There are some actual facts. My family has been in touch with the investigators, so we have done our part. I worry about his daughter that was in Texas with him. She spends a lot of time at our house, and she is a well mannered little girl, and Mr. Keyes appears to be a very good father. It his hard for us to believe that he had anything to do with this. But we will see.

Why do these kind of people that commit crimes have choices and rights, when the victim(s) of serious intentional crimes have no choice?

Reminds me of the 2007 case . Joshua Wade He used Mindy Schloss's atm card. He was picked up by the FBI three federal counts, use of the atm card bank fraud, illegal use of an access device and aggravated identity theft. We haven't stopped praying for the Koenig Family
