A multi-million dollar lawsuit, huh? She's got green in her eyes! Why would someone on a wheelchair need to use a swingset, anyway? I usually don't support Palin's ideas, but she was right about one thing: Along with Federal money comes Federal regulation.

Well Phillip, this is FEDERAL law. In other states there are playgrounds with mats made of rubber from old tires and swings that are platforms on chains that a wheelchair can be driven onto. Why are you so selfish? Do you think all handicapped people should be sent to "homes" and stored out of sight and out of mind? The fact is if the muni doesnt comply with the ADA it will be the federal government suing them not the woman in the video. Get your facts straight, mmmmkay?

Yup, that is still the prevailing thought even though we deny it: lock them away so no can see them, invalids. Everyone should have the same rights to use public facilities. We need to exceed the minimal requirements that the feds put on us. Stand up and be counted for justice for all.

Everybody wants, nobody wants to pay; more taxes for homeowners. Have to keep up to date, though. Isn't "handicapped" now passe and offensive as well?

Robertson, you are one terrible person. You don't think that disabled people have the same rights as others? They have the same rights as anybody else. We don't know the full extent of her disability. Perhaps for her just being able to sit in a swing is a joy. You had better hope that neither you or your friends or relatives ever become disabled. To have that type of attitude is truly a horrible attitude to have.

The law is the law, whether you agree with it or not. If the city is not in compliance by the deadline, we are in a world of hurt.

For two years now I have been disabled due to hip displacement. I am old enough to be at the front of the bus on two counts But that doesn't guarantee I get a seat there when the school kids take over and the driver says nothing. peoples attitude have to change. They are getting older every day. They might be next to be disabled.Although I would not wish that on anyone.

We may not be in as bad a shape as I thought. It seems that undue financial burden is a reason not to make changes. It also applies mostly to new construction and improvements. So if we stop taking federal money for facilities and maintain what we've got we could be ok. That might give us time to make changes as money permits, rather than going into more debt and raising property taxes even higher.

KTVA doesn't. Watch their local News and their version of Closed Captioning. Everybody else provides two or three lines at a time, making it readable. KTVA spins by just one very-short line at a time making it virtually unreadable. Why oh Why does KTVA hate the hearing impaired so much? I've asked: they refuse to answer/correct things.

OMG. Are we ALL crazy? Who gets to tell YOU what to do with your life, time and property? hmmm? how about YOU??!! who gets to take your money (ie time and energy) and decide what should be done with the fruit you produce? hmmm? could it be YOU? Laws, enforced by people 5,000 miles away? Are we ALL crazy? give us more government. give us people who pass laws and punish us when we fail to meet their arbitrary standards. OMG. Does anyone even see how far away from the ideals and realities of our founders we are? Having been "forced" to watch from the sidelines most of my life, i feel like Alice at the croquet game... We need LESS "public" stuff, because the "public" is really good at "gimme gimme, gimme" without wanting to pay for it. Rights? you ahve the right to remain silent, as they fine you for not meeting rules that you didn't ask for. Help us!!!

The other Kevin, I don't watch the news on TV. I just use this website. I really don't find much worth watching.

As parents of a disabled child we take it upon ourselves to make his life fuller and ask nothing from others besides understanding and a bit of compassion. It's the damage from the rude comments to a child that we can not fix. Please, you could be injured like our son and left with a disfigurement too. Just treat everyone you meet like you would like to be treated and help a stranger whenever the occasion arises. As for government involvement, compassion can not be mandated but can be learned through example.

I can say that I have lived there (Anchortown) for a spell. I am really impressed with the strides that have been taken. It sure did a lot to change a few attitudes.

Disabled people are like the drug addicts and criminals which already get more help then they need. Disabled people here in Alaska is very small. Why not help the majority instead of people that don't help society. .

One of the things that would really help the disabled would be to shovel the sidewalks in the winter. I am not disabled, but I could see how trying it would be to take the bus with plows laying up the snow in 6 ft piles every winter in front of bus stops. Would it really hurt our communities for people to get out and shovel the walks?! Do we really need the city to do that for us?

Sam Grant you are a complete idiot! I am disabled and work and raise two kids and do everything you do but I MS and have a hard time getting around sometimes, or just dont get around. It doesnt always mean give us money and a house it means can people with disabilities get around without issue, parks, stores, etc. Get educated and get a life and god forbid you ever become disbaled!

P.S If injecting myself with MS drugs that make me sick, or live in pain everyday but never take pain medication because I have two kids to raise makes me a drug addict and a criminal, than you need to try it for a day. Also one more thing, what about the disabled kids are they druggies and criminals too?

I would really be great if the people that design the handicap bathrooms in Alaska would consult with handicap organizations to find out how to properly accommodate a bathroom stall with placement of toilet for better privacy from cracks in the hinge of the door, better placement of toilet paper holders- there have many times I have had to get off the toilet just to reach the toilet paper set to low to be reached sitting down. Sometimes it is very discouraging to go shopping in most businesses because of all the inconveniences. Not only that but I have started taking my own toilet paper just to for the convenience of the reach problem. It would also be nice if there were sinks that could actually reached by those in wheelchairs with soap dispensers and towel holders near by. I know everyone wants to save money, but at the expense of customers is not good business sense. I have been in businesses Like Best Buy where there aren't even handicap battery operated carts, that needs to end
