Church Burglar Returns to Scene of Crime; In Police Custody

Police say the thief returned to the scene of one of the crimes, Our Lady of Guadeloupe Church on Wisconsin Street, Wednesday afternoon.

Anchorage police have a 17 year old in custody linked to a string of church break-ins.

At least six churches in southwest Anchorage have been burglarized within the past two weeks.

Police say the thief returned to the scene of one of the crimes, Our Lady of Guadeloupe Church on Wisconsin Street, Wednesday afternoon.

A church employee saw the young man, told him to leave and called police.

The unidentified young man was arrested near the corner of International Airport Road and Jewel Lake.

The minor is charged with:

  • Five counts of second-degree burglary
  • One count third-degree criminal mischief
  • One count of misconduct involving a controlled substance
  • One count of possession of burglary tools
  • One count of third-degree theft

According to police, the 17 year old is now in custody at McLaughlin Youth Center.

if 17y/o itchypaws becomes a gang leader, a mcdonalds worker, a carwash worker, or a minister. he could do all of the above, in this order. let's pray he skips #1! myc is a very good school, but he needs to pay attention in class and see the seriousness of his mistakes.
