Members of the Anchorage Garden Club opened their yards to the public for the annual city garden tour. Take a peek inside one of Anchorage’s top-notch gardens.

In Virginia Rusch’s beautiful garden, there are lilies, peonies and delphinium, as well as beautiful orange hips, and even a vegetable garden complete with rhubarb, kale and chard.

"I do enjoy having that fresh salad all summer long. It's really a wonderful treat to have my own garden produce," she says.

Her West Anchorage perennial garden is one of the six stops on this year's Anchorage Garden Tour. Dozens of locals were on hand to enjoy her garden.

But gardeners weren’t the only visitors Rusch regularly gets at her garden.

"I've discovered that moose systematically come to my garden and eat all the burgenia," she says.

For Rusch, she says gardening is all about getting outside and sharing what you love with your neighbors.

Virginia Rusch’s garden will also be featured in the Anchorage Garden Show beginning next Saturday.
