The battle against heart disease got a boost Friday at the "Go Red for Women" luncheon. Hundreds showed up for the event, including featured speaker, attorney and television personality Star Jones, and KTVA’s Grace Jang, who MC'd the event.
Several women shared their own survival stories.
Organizers said events like this help educate the public on how heart disease can affect a family and, most importantly, how stop the spread of heart disease in our lifetime.
“It’s important to all women,” said Lisa Sauder of the American Heart Association. “Not only Alaskan women, but everyone, that people be aware that heart disease is the number one killer of all women in America. One in three women will die of cardiovascular disease.”
