ANCHORAGE - A rally at the Loussac Library Saturday morning officially kicks off the recall effort against state Representative Lindsey Holmes, who switched her party affiliation from Democrat to Republican after the November election.

Some residents of Holmes' West Anchorage district, primarily outraged Democrats, also plan to canvass the Turnagain neighborhood tomorrow afternoon in an attempt to build momentum for removing her from office.

Recall organizer Wigi Tozzi said Holmes' campaign last year was deceptive and renders her unfit for office.

"Ms. Holmes never came back to the district and said, 'you know, I really feel that this is what's best for me. What do you think?' None of us were asked. It all happened in Juneau, not in Anchorage."

Holmes, now in her fourth term in the House, said she has not changed her beliefs and will try to demonstrate to constituents during the legislative session that she has their best interests at heart.

"The reactions I’ve gotten have been just as varied as the reasons people probably had for voting for me, or voting against me. I’ve had everything from very disappointed to thrilled, and everything in between. I think there are a lot of people who are sitting back and waiting to see what I do over the next few months."

Tozzi said he expects to get the necessary signatures of registered voters in the district in order to get the recall election scheduled between this fall and next spring.

Holmes would be the first legislator recalled in state history.

See Robo, for libs it's my way or nothing. They lie, call names, don't take any personal responsibility, blame others, etc. Ruin one state and move on like locus that will not go away.

She switched to gain a position of pwr in the legislature...duh...the woman is smart, why sit in the minority, when you can run with the majority and get things done and have a voice.
