ANCHORAGE - During the past week we've been focusing on health issues that affect Alaskans, and talking about how even small changes we all can make can lead to healthier lives.

When it comes to your emotional well being one of the best things you can do is stay connected with other people or reach out to someone else to be a friend.

Isolation can be a factor in everything from suicide to depression.

“…Also reinforce social connections with friends and family colleagues at school or at work; that connectedness is a protective factor,” said Kate Burkhart of the Suicide Prevention Council.

Some of the other things you can do to ward off the blues include getting plenty of exercise for both your body and your mind.
