ANCHORAGE - Increasing gas prices are forcing other businesses to raise their prices.

Alaska Flower Shop manager Charmayne Buchhold said that with gas now over $4.20 a gallon the shop has had to increase its delivery charges a week ago.

It increased the fee for the Anchorage Bowl from $8 to $10 and added an additional dollar to deliveries on base.

According to staff, prices on the Hillside are already so high, they decided to leave those be. This is the first time in eight years that the shop has increased its prices.

“We've been trying to resist increasing our prices,” said Buchhold. “The last time gas prices got really outrageous we decided to leave them. But with prices going up pennies every day consistently, we really didn't have a choice."

KTVA talked with a number of restaurant owners who say they haven’t had to raises prices yet, but they are waiting to see how high gas prices go this summer.

This is the usual price manipulation scam. Oil prices are NOT going higher, they went up from December but have stabilized around $105-106 a barrel. This morning oil is down $2.50, you think gas prices will be lowered today? Of course not! The station owners will only raise the prices because they don't have to answer to anyone but us, and we need to buy gas to get to work. The last time gas was this high, oil was $140 a barrel. Why the difference?
