ANCHORAGE - A fund has been set up for the family of a Village Public Safety officer killed in the line of duty in Manokotak.

Thomas Madole, 54, was found shot to death Tuesday night outside a house belonging to 42-year-old Leroy Dick.

According to court documents, Dick admitted to shooting Madole after the officer came to talk to him about an assault allegation. Dick told state troopers he didn’t remember how many times he fired his gun.

Madole’s body was taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Officer for an autopsy to determine how many times he was shot.

The Alaska Concerns of Police Survivors set up a fund at Wells Fargo. All donations made to the Thomas Madole Memorial Fund will go directly to his family. The account number is 1018259240.
