Anchorage is giving its residents a helping hand in these hard economic times.

Tuesday afternoon, the Municipality of Anchorage and The National League of Cities teamed up to bring residents free prescription discount cards.

Anchorage is just one of many cities across the U.S. issuing prescription cards as part of a program run by the NLC to provide residents relief from the high costs of prescription drugs.

The cards will not only assist those who don’t have any insurance but can also be used by individuals whose insurance doesn't cover certain prescriptions.

“It'll be great because every citizen is able to go and get 23 percent off when they go to the pharmacy. This doesn’t deal with insurance, this is just if you go and you spend your own money, you'll save 23 percent. We're looking forward to passing these cards out to everybody,” said Anchorage assemblyman Dick Traini.

The discount cards can be picked up and used at over 40 pharmacies around Anchorage.

It's about time Anchorage~ I have been getting my free discount drug card from Medicationcoupons.com for over a year now. The most I have saved with this card is $128.00 and the least has been $23.00

I use RxDrugCard and would like to be able to compare what I pay now with this new card's discounts.
