ANCHORAGE - Gayle White, charged in March 2011 with second-degree theft and falsifying business records while working at Chugiak High School, now faces new charges stemming from her former employment at East High.
After suspicious colleagues reported her, the now-44-year-old Wasilla resident was accused of taking cash from students and parents for school lunches, activities fees, library fines and other small transactions when she worked at Chugiak High. She pleaded guilty to the charges, was ordered to pay restitution and put on probation.
The Chugiak High charges led the school district to look further into White's background, since she previously worked as a student activities secretary at East High School. According to police, between 2006 and 2009, White embezzled $100,499.85 when she failed to deposit funds into the school's accounts. She now faces charges of first-degree theft, scheme to defraud and falsifying business records.
White is scheduled to be arraigned on the new charges on June 22.
