When you ring in the New Year on December 31, you will not be allowed to do so by lighting your own fireworks if you live in a trailer park. But you can do so in other parts of town between 9:30 p.m. on December 31 and 1 a.m. on January 1.

Assembly Chair Debbie Ossiander’s proposal to keep fireworks from being used within 200 feet of a neighbor’s house was also passed, as well as the provision fireworks detritus must be cleaned up within 12 hours.

Many who showed up at the public hearing asked the assembly not to extend it, saying it scared pets and kids and damaged property.

The ordinance allowing fireworks one day a year was first passed in 2010.
