According to the Anchorage Fire Department, a log cabin-style home on Sultana Drive in hillside set ablaze this afternoon after a fireplace fire got out of control today around 1:30 p.m.

The home is located in a relatively new neighborhood with no fire hydrants. The Anchorage Fire Department had to dispatch multiple fire trucks to the scene to carry additional water in an attempt to suppress the flames.

After more than five hours of fighting the fire, AFD was finally able to bring the blaze under control.

According to AFD, the roof is practically gone and overall damages will exceed $250,000.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire from spreading to outside brush, which was a major concern due to the dry grass and downward breeze.

No one was injured in the blaze.
