ANCHORAGE - There's been a change to the face of Anchorage public safety following an unexpected announcement by Mayor Dan Sullivan early Wednesday.

After more than 20 years of service with the Anchorage Fire Department Chief Mark Hall will be stepping down from the position next week, returning as a battalion chief.

During the brief announcement Sullivan said Hall's tenure with the department was marked by equipment upgrades and staff maintenance.

"This is the latest in a series of administrative changes we're looking at and effective on April 23,” said Sullivan. “Deputy Chief Bushue will ascend to the rank of fire chief."

Bushue has been with the Anchorage Fire Department for more than 30 years.

Bushue is a joke. He never rode in the front seat of a fire truck, end has never fought a fire, What is he doing in that job?
