Final Fighter Heads to Anchorage
ANCHORAGE – The final F-22 fighter jet ever made for the U.S Air Force is heading for Alaska.
Air Force officials said the jet, delayed by a broken refueling plane, is expected to arrive at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson over the weekend. The U.S. now has 187 of the aircraft. Besides continuing cost overruns, the plane's run with the military branch has been plagued with oxygen system problems.
The latter problem was blamed for a fatal November 2010 crash near Talkeetna
