FAIRBANKS — A Fairbanks woman has been missing for more than a week since she reportedly made a strange phone call after arriving in Anchorage.

The Anchorage Police Department announced Friday afternoon that they are seeking information about the whereabouts of Mary Anne Alexie, 33. Alexie traveled to Anchorage to attend Alaska Career College on October 9 and called around noon to confirm she arrived, according to police news release. She reportedly never made contact with the school and friends last heard from her about 3 a.m. October 10 when she called sounding confused and said she was in the Spenard neighborhood and did not know where to go.

“We’re concerned,” said Lieutenant Dave Parker, Anchorage Police Department spokesman. “We want help finding this lady.”

Anchorage police ask anyone with information about Alexie’s whereabouts to call 786-8900.

From the airport to Spenard, not a good situation. Hope for the best, but a lot of sh*t like this goes down in that area.

yep spenard and mountain view and fairview are very bad areas. if you're alone or with someone you dont know very very well avoid these 3 areas. These are the worst of the worst areas of anchorage.

I hope she is alright. I pray that she returns home safely. I have a couple of questions though, who did she call at around noon to confirm she arrived? Who did she call at 3 am sounding confused? Lastly, why 10 days later this story is made public? We should have known sooner, just saying!
