Fairbanks Family Holds Essay Contest to Win Four-Bedroom HouseIt costs $100 to enter for a chance to win the houseANCHORAGE - A Fairbanks family is taking an unconventional route to selling their house by holding a national essay contest. The Bergstrom family says the five-level, four-bedroom house is too big for them, and they want to sell it for a hundred dollars to the person with the best essay on why he or she deserves the house. “We're just trying to be creative and helping somebody get a house and at the same time getting what the house is worth, so it's kind of a win-win for everybody,” Latisha Bergstrom said. If they don't get at least 3,000 entries, the family says everyone will get their money back, and the property will be placed on the market the traditional way. |
