A Canadian corporation today announced the acquisition of Enstar Natural Gas Company, one of Alaska’s oldest energy providers.

In a press release, AltaGas Ltd. said the $1.1 billion purchase included Semco Energy, Inc, Enstar’s Michigan parent company and owner of a 65 percent interest in the Cook Inlet Natural Gas Storage Alaska (CINGSA) facility.

Enstar has seen a 2.5 percent compound annual growth rate over the past decade, and AltaGas said they saw “extensive opportunities for growth,” at the Kenai Peninsula storage facility.
