ANCHORAGE - It all started out as a drug trafficking case led by Anchorage police, now, 11 people are charged in relation to a multi-million dollar tax fraud scheme. Federal prosecutors allege the organized crime ring filed 19 million dollars in fraudulent tax refund claims. Laptops seized by investigators contained 2 thousand 6 hundred stolen identities. The defendants, 7 who are in the country illegally, were able to receive IRS refunds using a number of methods, including stealing the mail of up to 30 Anchorage and Eagle River residents in order to file false tax returns. The U.S. Attorney's office says a corrupt Wells Fargo bank employee in Anchorage, Hilda Hernandez McMullen, helped set up bank accounts for the defendants and negotiates the refund checks and forged U.S. Treasury checks. The indictment alleges the group stole the names and social security numbers of people from Puerto Rico. They used the information to obtain Alaskan identification from the DMV. Six of the defendants are also facing charges releated to trafficking cocaine. The defendants involved in the scheme are citizens of the Dominican Republic or Mexico. Seven are in the U.S. illegally. |

This Wells Fargo employee is just the tip of the iceberg It's about time somebody took a good look at that place. Without Wells Fargo, this group wouldn't have been able to operate.

Sure, lets bring MORE illegals and drugs up here, that way we can really look like a bunch of hicks from the sticks. I hope they don't just prosecute them, I hope they are deported in shackles in full public view.

Don't tell that guy named Obama, he would find fault with you for "hasseling" the illegals that are here. Maybe even take the right to arrest them away from the locals such as he did with Sheriff Joe.

Don't understand why Americans just don't get it.. We give too many countries abroad too much money, and we also entice illegals to come to the US. We are just giving everything away to satisfy the liberal agenda, it will help make the transformation to SOCIALISM much easier..

I think we should send the message to Washington that we the people want our country back.And say it first by getting rid of the party system and electoral votes.Then ELECT who should be in Washington by vote of the populace.And if the elected official decides to go corporate then get rid of him or her.Myself I would like to see Jan Brewer the gov of Arizona get a shot I like the way she has deal with this problem there.

Stop electing incumbents and take back control of the country, start enforcing our laws, and most importantly, stop pandering to illegals, regardless of where they come from or how poor they are at home.

Although I agree with a lot of the comments here, I am amazed that no one other than Disgusted has commented about Wells Fargo. The Wells Fargo employee was an integral part in making this happen. Somebody really needs to take a look at what is going on at Wells.
