Driver Arrested in Easter Hit-And-Run
Ashley Bashore, 19, was taken into custody at 5:55 p.m Wednesday.
Anchorage police have arrested a woman in connection with the hit-and-run accident that killed 28-year-old Hubert Tunuchuk Easter Sunday in East Anchorage.
Ashley Bashore, 19, was taken into custody at 5:55 p.m Wednesday. Lt. Dave Parker, a spokesman for the Anchorage Police Department, said a grand jury indictement earlier in the evening had charged her with leaving the scene of an accident with an injury, criminally negligent homocide and tampering with physical evidence.
According to police, the eight-month delay between the accident and Bashore's arrest was due to the need to process DNA and other evidence. They say the delay was also due to the fact prosecutors wanted to run the case by a grand jury before making an arrest.
Bashore's bail has been set at $2,500, with a requirement for a third-party custodian and that she not be able to drive.
