Don Young Files for Re-ElectionIf re-elected it will be his 21 term as the states only representative in the U.S. House.ALASKA - Representative Don Young has no plans of leaving Washington, D.C anytime soon. Young is seeking another term in office and if re-elected it will be his 21st term as the state's only representative in the U.S. House. He officially filed for re-election Wednesday, at the Division of Elections Office in Anchorage. Young, a Republican, will be running against John Cox of Anchor Point, Libertarian Jim McDermott of Fairbanks, and Democrats Doug Urquidi and Frank Vondersaar, of Eagle River and Homer, respectively. “I never take this race easy,” said Don Young. “I remember one guy filing against me, he spent $100 and he got 38 percent of the vote. I've never forgotten that, so I make sure the idea is good as far as what I'm doing for the state and I'm going to continue that effort to make sure they understand it.” In a press release regarding his own re-election, Young said he is looking forward to “returning to D.C. in 2013 and welcoming a Republican President to office and getting this country back on track.”
