Detox Center ReopensNow staffed as required by lawANCHORAGE - The detox unit of the Ernie Turner Center is back up and running. That is according to the Cook Inlet Tribal Council, which stopped the program about two months ago, after a state audit revealed that LPNs -- licensed practical nurses -- and not RNs -- registered nurses -- were doing the detox assessments at in-take. The tribal council hired two RNs and on Monday resumed detox services. Said Chief Operating Officer Kristin English, “[We’re] operating as we were before; it's a little more expensive, and we are not able to do in-takes 24 hours a day, seven days a week, like we were before. Our intakes will be limited to 12 hours a day." |
