Community Reacts to Koenig Case's ProgressThe abduction has affected many people across AnchorageANCHORAGE - The abduction of Samantha Koenig has affected many people across Anchorage, and word of a suspect arrest has evoked mixed reaction. Many say any news is progress, considering the painfully long weeks of nearly no news at all. “It certainly is,” says Fiona Johnson, filling up her tank at Cline’s Tesoro Downtown. “I mean apart from the missing posters, I’ve heard nothing really on the subject, so I’m glad that they found someone who may be responsible for this.” But what searchers haven’t found is Samantha herself, and the pleas for information on her whereabouts continue. A huge sign in the parking lot of the Midtown Alaska Athletic Club is a constant reminder that Samantha is still missing. “I come by and I think about the girl, Samantha, that was kidnapped or missing,” says Dimond High teacher Susan Emmal. “It makes me sick.” “I hope they find her alive,” says Ron Wilson, a father himself. “I have children too, and if something happened to my daughter I couldn’t sleep.” For now businesses will keep their posters and signs, and others like the owner of Cline’s Tesoro say they’ll continue to wear a pin that shows Samantha’s face. “I will wear my pin just to let people know that we are still looking for her and that hopefully they'll find her,” says Cline. Meanwhile Koenig’s coworkers at the coffee shop say they are confident she will be found. “We keep hoping and wishing and praying that Samantha will come home safely,” says Katie Jan. “We wake up every day and hope that today will be the day.” |

I pray he didn't take her to her to Mexico to be sold. That is a very scary thought.Mexico is in a major drug war with lots of danger going on there and if he was selling ,buying or trading,it is a possibility. But on the other hand, though it is a terrible thing for her to be going through,at least the possibility is still there that she will be found alive.

Anything short of finding samantha alive will be a big loss for the community. At middle age, I still say that little prayer at bed time "Now I lay me down to sleep...."
