ANCHORAGE – Friday was day 12 of the search for missing airman Clinton Reeves.

The 24-year-old's car was found abandoned in the Russian Jack Park neighborhood last week with his belongings inside.

Recently though, the Reeves’ family started getting help and support from someone who's experienced what it's like to have a missing child.

“I’m Terry Reeves, nice to meet you sir,” said one father to another.

"Heard you're having a rough time and I wanted to extend my sympathy," said the father of Samantha Koenig, James.

Koenig knows what Reeves' dad is going through – Samantha was missing for months before she was found dead.

"There's no rule book on how to find a missing person,” said James Koenig. “We had to learn for the last three months, so I want to pass that knowledge that we obtained onto the Reeves family and help them get the word out as fast as possible.”

Terry Reeves flew from Wichita, Kansas, to help with the search of his missing son.

"I feel like I'm banging my head up against the wall cause I mean I think we need to think outside the box and I think what's inside the box isn't working, so we need to figure out something different,” said a desperate Terry Reeves.

More than 45 of Clinton Reeves coworkers spread out across Anchorage to put up posters. It is a family environment that Terry Reeves is familiar with. “I’m from a big family; this is just a little bit bigger.”

Others residents who have heard about the disappearance of Clinton Reeves also turned out to help.

"My daughter was actually missing in Utah 11 years ago this month,” said Stayce Pead. “This kind of stuff is important to me. She was recovered 16 months later and she was alive - she'd been taken by a convicted sex offender."

"I just hope that by getting his information out there, his picture out I mean, that's how we bring people home, that's how my daughter was found," said Pead

And today no one was too young to assist in the search.

"Put out these and look for him cause we want to help,” said Peads grandson. “I mean he is in the air force, and we do want to be an American and we don't want to fail right?"

For Terry Reeves his family is growing as Anchorage comes together to find his son.
