In Eklutna, Anchorage police have found a body they believe to be that of a 28-year-old man who had been missing since Thursday.

Search crews were sent out to mile 7 of Eklutna Lake Road early Saturday afternoon after a beige-colored Hyundai Elantra was discovered there near the woods.

The car belongs to Steven William Anderson whose fiancee reported him missing when his boss said he failed to show up to a remote GCI cabin on Thursday.

The trip was supposed to be a reward for a job well done at GCI.

Anderson apparently left behind a bag he had packed for the trip. Missing from his home are his car, keys, wallet and cell phone.

Police say the body has been tentatively identified as that of Anderson and say there is no indication of foul play.

The APD is saying that it was a "self inflicted gunshot wound." His company gives him a free pass at the company cabin and he shoots himself?

Lindsay - a childhood friend said on Thursday, Jul 21 at 10:58 AM

While not blood related, Steve (actually, we called him Stevie) was like my 2nd brother for the first 12 years of my life until I moved away. My aunt Linda took care of both of us while our parents were at work. We walked to school together and spent the summers together. We never really stayed in touch but I kept up with him through his mom. I was so shocked when I heard. We all are. What a tragedy. My heart goes out to his fiancé and family.

Mr Anderson always enjoyed a good Diet Dr. Pepper. This is how I first engaged him in conversation as a fellow co-worker. Some great chats were had with him while sipping that wonderful drink. A great man. A great person. Saddened to see him go. Hopefully his kin find strength, and are able to make it through this dark time.
