The body of a woman reported missing Friday was found the same day trapped under ice in Campbell Creek about 70 feet downstream from where police say she fell. And now, just a day later, co-workers are still in shock over the tragic loss of 35-year-old Lamia Bouziane.

Late Thursday night, Anchorage police say Lamia Bouziane disappeared under the ice on Campbell Creek. All she left was a water bottle floating in the icy water, and fond memories for the coworkers at the ARC of Anchorage.

Besides her love for the outdoors, her friends described her as someone who would always go the extra mile for others. She had been with the ARC of Anchorage for more than two years, a case worker helping families with special needs.

When she failed to show up for work Friday morning, they instantly knew something was wrong. And while her family lives in Colorado and her friends describe her as a quiet woman who kept to herself, they say she wasn’t alone.

As they prepare to come together for the holidays, they say her memory will live on.

Police are still investigating the cause of death, but believe she may have lost her balance and fell into the creek while possibly trying to fill up her water bottle.

OMG~that is so sad,I had a feeling it was her when I read her name in the paper because she had a very different name. She worked on my daugher's case. She was very friendly and helpful. My prayers and thoughts go out to the family and her coworkers and those she touched. Rest well, dear Lamia.
