ANCHORAGE - A state representative has introduced a bill requiring judicial warrants for the use of drones by law enforcement.

Fairbanks Democrat Scott Kawasaki said he's trying to head off a potential infringement on the constitutional right to privacy in Alaska.

His bill would make information obtained by drones, or unmanned aerial vehicles, largely inadmissible in civil and criminal court cases, unless authorized in advance by a judge.

"I'm a little bit alarmed because I think that this is the only bill that received four committee referrals in this legislative session, in a legislative session where they're trying to speed through legislation with only one or two committee referrals," Kawasaki said.

Multiple committee referrals are sometimes seen as a tactic to slow down legislation not favored by the House leadership.
