Begich's remarks about Fast and Furious, alleging that is was a Bush Admin tactic, is patently false and 100% scurrilous. I am extremely well acquainted with the details of this scandal having followed it very closely since January. Blame Bush has certainly been a Holder talking point but it is also a demonstrably false lie.

Operation Fast and Furious was not a program started under the Bush admin. Operation Fast and Furious started in 2009 and was a distinct component of Project Gunrunner. Senator Begich is either being dishonest or is being lied to by his staff. Do a search on the internet and in less than a couple minutes you can find the information when both Project Gunrunner, and Operation Fast and Furious. Senator Begich attempted to link Operation Wide Receiver, which started under President Bush, with Operation Fast and Furious. They were completely different programs. Holder owns in it's entirety Operation Fast and Furious which was started after he was sworn in as Attorney General.

Please ask the Sen. next time why he voted to allow the U.S. Military to detain American citizens in military detention centers for an unlimited amount of time with no due process. Feinstien Amendment S.B. 1847 I think.
