Bear-Mauling Victims Listed In Serious Condition

Those in the back of the line heard the warning, with the two at the front of the line taking the brunt of the attack, trooper spokeswoman Megan Peters said.

Tourist or local bells and yelling doesnt work in high traffic hiking areas bears have assimilated this with food . Passive hikers need to learn to use a firearm or accept the out come . It happens to locals also . I was born as all my family from Tanana so many people in the woods bear have come accustum to it.

I was born here and both tourist and locals need to know what they are doing before going in bear country . The passive non hunter type should at least carry somethind to deter the beay not just yealling or bells Bear have assimilated this with food and it does not work in high traffic areas where people camp and hike . Bring a firearm and know how to use it.

Calling teenagers that are Americans and spending money in Alaska and enjoying the beautiful outdoors and where unlucky enough to be attacked by a she-grizzly with cubs degrading names is not Alaskan or anything decent.

Everyone in Alaska faces the same possibility of encountering wildlife; be it a bear, moose or another person with a gun. We are all respectful of the fact and understand that sometimes Nature wins. I have seen lifelong Alaskans act as ignorantly as our visiting tourist that I remind you fuel our economy. Stop showing your IQ by posting demeaning comments

Maybe we could get the Russians to take back Alaska, for say $10 and a barrel of vodka? Doubt it. The Russians aren't that stupid. What a bunch of idiots, pretending to be tough guys, sitting behind their computers.

I agree with Local, send us your tourists we keep feeding them to our wildlife. All the little babies that dont understand that fact go back south where you came from!

Yes, all of us Alaskans are the same. We have an ego and reputation to uphold. I've seen bears up close and personal, killing and running through brush like it's nothing, that I would need a machete to get through. I have so much respect for those creatures. So if you wanna go and try to pet one. Be my guest.

Local Lifer, you are so off base. They were making noise and calling out to let animals know they were in the vacinity. 'Cuddle with a life size teddy bear'? Get over it. Thank God they are all safe and receiving medical attention.

Serves the dipstick tourists right! Next time stay home instead of trying to cuddle with a life size teddy bear!
