Bean's Cafe Warns Against Scams On Its BehalfDoor-to-door solicitations for Bean's are not legitimateANCHORAGE - The soup kitchen Bean's Cafe says it received some startling reports that people were going door-to-door saying their were collecting donations for the organization. In a Facebook post, it reminded everyone that Bean's does not solicit donations. Kathy Olson, director of social services for Bean's, said, "that is not something we would ever do. Be very cautious if someone comes to your door and asks for a donation. That's not us." Bean's Cafe accepts financial donations on its website. Another option is donating items it needs. Right now, the organization could use toilet paper, 3-pound cans of coffee, pies, cranberry sauce or chicken or ham for sandwiches. Olson said they'll give away gift boxes next Friday. Bean's could still use some items for those including trial size soap shampoo and lotion, hats, gloves, combs and brushes. |
