"Batman" Attack Doesn't Reverberate in Alaska

Aurora, Colorado incident doesn't seem to affect play in Alaska

ANCHORAGE - As you can see by this very busy parking lot at one of two Century Sixteen theaters here in Anchorage, it does not seem that many people were deterred from going to the movies this afternoon by the tragedy in Colorado.

We found a steady stream of patrons, with most telling us they had seen or were going to 'The Dark Knight Rises.'

The shooting has raised concerns about security at theaters in the U.S., some even cancelled shows: that didn’t happen here in Anchorage.

But the moviegoers we talked to today tell us safety and increased security procedures are definitely on their minds.

We also checked with Anchorage police, who tell us there were no problems at any of Anchorage's ‘Dark Knight Rises’ screenings.

Century 16's corporate office told us they would be sending a written statement; we have not yet received it.

well it won't hurt if everyone pays attention to the votes, the current events of the area and the world, and be the caretakers we are suppose to be...I don't think if someone speaks up and says uh we got a problem that folks will walk away... they use to...now we stop - look - and listen... you don't know what your missing...lol...now? We will have too much awareness, but better safe then sorry...we can take care of this - together!

Holmes is a cowardly cur. He can shoot defenseless people but surrender the moment the cops showed up even although he is still armed and got a full body armor. Good for nothing nerd.

Mr. Holmes surrendered without incident. Mr Holmes was wearing body armor. Mr. Holmes assaulted a large captive group in a confined space in all places a "GUN FREE ZONE". Why? Pretty simple to me, he didn't want to die and he wanted a lucrative target where HE KNEW he would met no resistance. All recent mass murders are ironically in "GUN FREE ZONES" Texas, Virgina Tech (x2), Columbine and now a GUN FREE THEATER. And Politicians want to use this to further restrict and erode my right to protect myself by banning guns? How many citizens (subjects) did the Police Department Save in Aurora Colorado from Mr. Holmes rampage? There is a reason why I conceal carry everywhere I go, fortunately a boat load of Alaskans do!

It's isnane that our country goes gaga over isolated criminal acts. Making a big deal out of it (like the politicians have all been doing all day) doesn't actually help victims and their families, it puts them under a big uncomfortable magnifying glass. If Colorado wasn't a big swing state the political elbowing at the expense of murder victims wouldn't be happening.

I think the main reason people aren't worried is that if someone were to try that here, at least three people would return fire.

I agree. It is just an isolated incident and metal detectors in the theaters is ignorant and a waste of money. I have no fear of going to the movies anywhere. Terrible people do terrible things

Why should it? People think there is a nation wide conspiracy going on? Just one murdering maggot in Colorado running amok, doesn't mean there will be one in every city and town in the United States. Such foolishness to think copycats appear everywhere at once!
